Death diving, or Døds in Norwegian, is a form of extreme diving from heights jumping with stretched arms and belly first, landing in a canon ball or a shrimp position. Competitions are managed by The International Døds Federation hosting the official Døds qualification league (Døds Challenge) and the Døds World Championship. The World Championship is performed from a platform of 10-15 meters in height. There are separate competitions for Classic and Freestyle. In the Classic event, competitors are to fly horizontally with their arms and legs extended until they hit the water, with no rotations.

- Døds es una modalidad deportiva de salto de trampolín amateur creado en Noruega. La prueba consiste en saltar desde una plataforma de diez metros de altura. A pesar de no estar registrado por la (NSF), se celebran campeonatos mundiales divididos en dos competiciones: clásico y estilo libre. En el clásico, los competidores deben volar horizontalmente con sus extremidades extendidas en formación de X hasta que lleguen al agua. Para evitar lesiones, estos deben ponerse en posición fetal justo antes de entrar en contacto con el agua rompiendo así la tensión superficial ayudados con sus pies, rodillas y codos. Una vez realizado el salto, los jueces se encargan de puntuar el salto en función del tiempo en el que el participante ha mantenido su pose original. (es)

Competitors curl into a fetal position just before entering the water, landing first with their feet and hands or knees and elbows to avoid serious injury; dives are judged on speed, air time, complexity, how long the diver holds the original pose, the closing and the splash. In Freestyle Døds, the competitors do various tricks during the air travel, including rotations and flips, hence the name. The sport is not registered as a discipline in the Norwegian Swimming Federation. The International Døds Federation was founded on 1 January 2012. The current world record in height is 31.3 meters and is held by three competing athletes: Ken Stornes (No), Tore Våge (No) and Côme Girardot (Fr). In the women's class the record is at 20.4 meters and is set by Norwegian Asbjørg Nesje. (en)
