Кроме того, эти выборы стали первыми в истории России, на которых были замечены массовые фальсификации протоколов с участков, оснащенных системой автоматического подсчёта голосов. Фальсификации были выявлены независимыми методами, которые показывали на одни и те же участки. Аномалии были выявлены и на других участках. В результате чего, по оценке специалистов по электоральной статистике, Олег Кожемяко не набрал 50 %, которые нужны для победы в первом туре.
