Denver David Hargis (July 22, 1921 – March 16, 1989) was a U.S. Representative from Kansas from 1959 to 1961. Born in Key West, Florida, his maternal grandfather and grandmother were each from Spain and England. In 1922, when Hargis was one year old, his parents moved to Coffeyville, Kansas. He attended Coffeyville schools. He enlisted in the United States Navy in January 1941 and served until October 1943.He graduated from Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas, with a B.A. in 1946, and from its law school, with a LL.B. in 1948. He was admitted to the bar in 1948 and commenced his practice of law in Coffeyville, Kansas.
