Deutscher Schriftstellerverband (DSV) was an East German association of writers. It was founded in 1950 and renamed in 1973 as Schriftstellerverband der DDR. The association considered itself an heir to the earlier traditions of the SDS which had flourished in the 1920s but then, after 1933, been forced into line under the Hitler dictatorship and, in July 1933, found itself subsumed into the "National Association of German Writers" (Reichsverband deutscher Schriftsteller), a Nazi mandated successor organisation between 1933 and 1945.

En 1974 fue renombrada como Schriftstellerverband der DDR (traducible al español como "Asociación de Escritores de la RDA"). Era continuadora de la antigua (SDS), que había sido intervenida por las autoridades nazis en 1933. La DSV desapareció tras la reunificación alemana en 1990. Nacque nel 1950, come una sotto-sezione del Kulturbund, e inizialmente aveva il nome di Deutscher Schriftstellerverband, a sottolineare la sua volontà unificatrice. Nel 1978 Hermann Kant succedette alla Seghers nella carica di presidente, ma nel frattempo un numero crescente di polemiche e scandali, tra cui il caso internazionale riguardante Wolf Biermann e l'espulsione nel 1979 di nove scrittori per "attività sovversive" ne minarono progressivamente la credibilità e fecero sì che l'unione venisse boicottata da un numero crescente di scrittori. L'associazione fu definitivamente sciolta nell'ottobre 1990, all'indomani della riunificazione tedesca. (it)
