There are currently two earldoms of Mar in the Peerage of Scotland, and the title has been created seven times. The first creation of the earldom is currently held by Margaret of Mar, 31st Countess of Mar, who is also clan chief of Clan Mar. The seventh creation is currently held by James Erskine, 14th Earl of Mar and 16th Earl of Kellie, who is also clan chief of Clan Erskine.

  • Comte de Mar est un titre créé plusieurs fois dans la pairie d'Écosse, mais qui fut, à partir du XIIe siècle, un titre porté par les successeurs des mormaers de Mar, seigneurs du territoire de Mar (en anglais Earldom of Mar). Le titre dérive de Marr, l'une des sept provinces originelles de l'Écosse au IXe siècle. Les terres du mormaer de Mar couvraient alors les territoires des comtés historiques d'Aberdeenshire et Banffshire.
