Edward Richard McDonald (September 24, 1871 – February 16, 1952) was an adventurer, lawyer, politician, writer, inventor and family man. He had a long career of notable distinction as a lawyer spanning more than 50 years. He was one of the first people in the province of New Brunswick, and the first resident of Shediac, New Brunswick, to own and operate an automobile. He purchased his first vehicle in 1908, a sports model McLaughlin Buick, sporting license plate No. 111.
