Februar 1913 in Kensington, London) war ein englischer Philatelist, der das nach ihm benannte Unternehmen Stanley Gibbons Ltd. gründete. Edward Stanley Gibbons war der jüngste Sohn von William Gibbons, einem Apotheker, und dessen Frau Elisabeth Langride. In sein Geburtsjahr fiel die Ausgabe der weltweit ersten Briefmarken, der One Penny Black. Nach seiner Schulausbildung im Hallorans’ Collegiate Establishment arbeitete er einige Wochen als Angestellter in der ortsansässigen Navel Bank. Anschließend half er seinem Vater in dessen Apotheke aus. (de) Edward Stanley Gibbons était un marchand britannique de timbres-poste, fondateur de la société Stanley Gibbons. Né à Plymouth, le 21 juin 1840 (année de l'émission du Penny Black), il était le plus jeune enfant de William Gibbons, pharmacien et d'Elizabeth Langridge. Avec des études au Hallorans' Collegiate Establishment, il travaille à 15 ans quelques semaines comme clerc à la Naval Bank, avant d'être apprenti dans la boutique de son père.
