Als Post-Doktorand war er bis 1986 Benjamin Peirce Assistant Professor an der Harvard University und 1986/87 am MSRI. 1987 wurde er Lecturer, 1988 Senior Lecturer, 1995 Associate Professor und 2001 Professor an der Hebräischen Universität. 2006 bis 2009 stand er der Mathematikfakultät vor.
