Emmen is a terminus railway station located in Emmen, Netherlands. The station was opened on 1 November 1905 and is located on the Zwolle–Emmen railway. Train services are operated by Arriva. The line continues for a short distance to a headshunt where trains can wait before returning, formerly the line continued onwards in a northerly direction with stations at Weerdinge, Exloo and Buinen, to a junction with the now closed line between Assen and Stadskanaal at Gasselternijveen. This closed in the late 1950s with the exception of a short freight only section from Gasselternijveen to Buinen which closed at the same time as Assen - Stadskanaal (early 1960s). Although the tracks have been removed, the remains of the track beds of both lines are still visible in the landscape. There are plans

Het station ligt ten noordoosten van het centrum, aan het huidige einde van de spoorlijn Zwolle - Emmen. Vroeger liep deze lijn verder naar Stadskanaal en daarna via Zuidbroek naar Delfzijl. | - Der Bahnhof Emmen ist ein Bahnhof im niederländischen Ort Emmen, der am 1. November 1905 eröffnet wurde. Der Bahnhof liegt im Nordosten des Zentrums am Ende der heutigen Bahnstrecke Zwolle–Emmen. Früher ging die Strecke von Emmen weiter über Stadskanaal und nach Delfzijl. 1987 wurde die Strecke elektrifiziert. 1965 wurde das ursprüngliche Empfangsgebäude abgerissen und im selben Jahr durch ein neues Gebäude ersetzt. Das Vorhaben, den Bahnhof weiter in Richtung des Stadtzentrums zu verlegen, wurde nicht umgesetzt. Seit dem 4. Juli 2005 gibt es im Bahnhof keinen Fahrkartenschalter mehr. Das Bahnhofsrestaurant blieb allerdings zunächst geöffnet. Im Juli 2008 wurde es durch einen Kiosk ersetzt. Von Emmen verkehren Schnell- und Nahverkehrszüge nach Zwolle, seit 9. Het station ligt ten noordoosten van het centrum, aan het huidige einde van de spoorlijn Zwolle - Emmen. Vroeger liep deze lijn verder naar Stadskanaal en daarna via Zuidbroek naar Delfzijl. In 1987 werd de spoorlijn Zwolle-Emmen geëlektrificeerd. Het oorspronkelijke stationsgebouw was een type tweede klasse van de standaardstations van de Noordoosterlocaalspoorweg-Maatschappij, ontworpen door de architect Eduard Cuypers. In 1965 werd het afgebroken omdat het ondoelmatig was geworden en de bouwkundige staat als deplorabel werd beoordeeld. In hetzelfde jaar werd een nieuw stationsgebouw geopend dat door architect Cees Douma ontworpen was. Er was een plan om het station richting het centrum te verplaatsen maar dat ging niet door. Op 4 juli 2005 werd het loket in het station gesloten, het restaurant bleef open. Uiteindelijk maakte het restaurant plaats voor een kiosk die in juli 2008 geopend werd, die in april 2019 werd opgevolgd door een StationsHuiskamer. (nl)
