Ermengol (or Armengol) III (1032 – 1065), called el de Barbastro, was the count of Urgell from 1038 to his death. He was the son of Ermengol II, Count of Urgell and his wife Velasquita "Constance", probably the daughter of Bernard I, Count of Besalú.

Er war ein Sohn des Grafen Ermengol II. von Urgell († 1038/39). Ermengol war nacheinander verheiratet mit Adalaiz (1036 genannt), Clemencia (1059 genannt) und Sancha von Aragón (1065 und 1072/73 genannt). Letztere war eine Tochter des Königs Ramiro I. von Aragón. Aus erster Ehe sind zwei Kinder hervorgegangen: (de) Ο Ερμενγκόλ Γ΄ (Καταλανική γλώσσα : Ermengol I d'Urgell 1031/1033 - 1065), γνωστός ως «του Μπαρμπάστρο» (de Barbastro), υπήρξε Κόμης της Ουρζέλ (1038 - 1065). Ήταν γιος του Ερμενγόλ Β΄, Κόμη του Ουρζέλ, και της Κωνσταντίας πιθανότατα κόρης του Βερνάρδου Α΄ του Μπεζαλού. Συμμαχώντας με τον εξάδελφό του Ραϋμόνδο-Βερεγγάριο Α΄, Κόμη της Βαρκελώνης, επιχείρησε να αντιμετωπίσει την μείωση της εξουσίας των κόμητων επί των ευγενών. Συνεργάστηκαν στην Ρεκονκίστα, την κατάκτηση περιοχών της σημερινής Καταλονίας κάτω από μουσουλμανικό έλεγχο όπου και έλαβε το ένα τρίτο των κατακτημένων περιοχών, καταλαμβάνοντας το 1050 την Καμαράζα και την Κουμπέλς αφού τις πήρε από τον έλεγχο του Γιουσούφ, Εμίρη της Λέριδα. Το 1039–1040, ο Ερμενγόλ και ο Ραϋμόνδος-Βερεγγάριος συμμάχησαν ενάντια στον , Κόμη της Σερ (el) Armengol (o Ermengol) III de Urgel, denominado el de Barbastro ( ? - Monzón o Barbastro, Huesca, entre el 13 de marzo y el 12 de abril de 1065), fue conde de Urgel (1039–1065) y recibió la tenencia de la ciudad de Barbastro en recompensa a su colaboración con su cuñado y yerno a su vez, el rey de Aragón Sancho Ramírez en la conquista de esta ciudad al caudillo taifa Al-Muqtadir. Murió resistiendo la contraofensiva de la Taifa de Zaragoza por recuperar dicha urbe. Hijo de Armengol II de Urgel y de , sucedió a su padre en el condado de Urgel.
