Eskibel (official Basque name) is a village in Álava, Basque Country, Spain. It forms part of the Southwest Rural Zone of Vitoria. It is situated 7.5 km southwest of the city in a small valley surrounded by the Mountains of Vitoria. Eskibel was the site of fighting in the Spanish War of Independence in the early 19th century and later during the Second Carlist War, when it was held by the Carlists of Vitoria. The "Castillo de Gomecha" at Eskibel is the remains of an old fortified watch tower.

Es troba a 660 msnm i a 7,5 km al sud de Vitòria, en una petita vall enclavada a les Muntanyes de Vitòria. Es tracta d'un llogaret que ha explicat sempre amb una població molt escassa. A principis del segle xix tenia poc més de 22 veïns i en 1960 només 10. El llogaret consta d'uns pocs edificis i de l'església de San Lorenzo que es troba en ruïnes. D'aquesta església es conserva una talla romànica, coneguda com a Verge d'Eskibel, que es troba exposada en el Museu Diocesà d'Art Sacre de Vitòria. Ha estat lloc de tràfec i d'escaramusses durant la Guerra del Francès a principis del segle xix i sobretot en 1875 durant la Segona Guerra Carlina, on va ser trencat el cèrcol carlista a Vitòria. Va pertànyer a la Germandat i al municipi d'Ariñiz fins que aquest va quedar annexionat al de Vitòria en 1928. Destaca el (Eskibel) (ca)

Always sparsely populated, in the early 19th century it had only 22 people, in 1960 it had 10, and today has only 2 (2001 census). The village comprises a few small buildings and the ruins of the Church of San Lorenzo (St Lawrence). A romanesque statue, known as the Virgin of Eskibel, was salvaged from the church ruins and can now be seen at the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art in Vitoria. Eskibel was the site of fighting in the Spanish War of Independence in the early 19th century and later during the Second Carlist War, when it was held by the Carlists of Vitoria.
