The Farouq Brigades (Arabic: كتائب الفاروق), also spelt Farooq and Farook, was an armed rebel organisation formed by a number of Homs based members of the Free Syrian Army early in the Syrian Civil War. The group rapidly expanded in size and prominence in 2012, before suffering internal splits and battlefield reversals in 2013 that greatly reduced its influence. By 2014, the group was largely defunct, with member factions joining other rebel groups. The brigades were named Farouq after Omar bin al-Khattab, a Sahaba (companion) of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and the second Caliph.

(en) كتائب الفاروق هي تجمع ثوري مسلح يؤمن بحتمية تغيير نظام بشار الاسد في سوريا ويسعى إلى ذلك بكافة الوسائل المشروعة، ينتقل بعدها ليصبح تجمع ثوري مدني في مرحلة الاستقرار. يعد أول تشكيل حقيقي مقاتل في حمص حيث ان كتائب الفاروق كانت نواة لتشكيل الجيش السوري الحر فيها ومن ثم في سوريا عامة. كان حي باباعمرو نواة لكتائب الفاروق ومنه انطلق إلى قلب المدينة في وحمص القديمة وشمالا باتجاه تلبيسة والرستن وغربا إلى قلعة الحصن وتلكلخ والزارةوجنوبا في مدينة القصير بالإضافة إلى مدينة تدمر شرقا. وما يميز هذه الكتائب هو انها أول تشكيل منظم ومقاتل على ارض حمص وسوريا (ar) La Brigade al-Farouq (en arabe : كتائب الفاروق), également orthographiée Farooq et Farook, était l'une des unités les plus importantes de l'Armée syrienne libre, impliquée dans la guerre civile syrienne. L'unité intègre en septembre 2012, le front islamique de libération syrien (FLIS) souvent appelé tout simplement, Front de libération syrien (FLS).
