| - Die Flagge von Western Australia wurde am 27. November 1875 eingeführt und ist eine Variante der britischen Blue Ensign, mit dem Staatsabzeichen im Flugteil. Das Abzeichen zeigt auf einer goldenen Scheibe einen Trauerschwan, der in Richtung Liekseite blickt. Der Trauerschwan, Namensgeber und typischer Vogel des Swan River ist mindestens seit den 1830er Jahren das Symbol Westaustraliens. Die erste Siedlung, das heutige Perth, wurde nach dem Fluss Swan River Settlement (Siedlung am Schwanenfluss) genannt. (de)
- The flag of Western Australia consists of a Blue Ensign defaced with the badge of the state. Adopted in 1953 to replace a similar design used from the time when the state was still a British colony, it has been the flag of Western Australia since 3 November of that year. The design of the present flag entailed reversing the direction of the black swan so that it faced towards the hoist. This was done in order to adhere to vexillological convention. Western Australia's flag is similar to the flags of the other five Australian states, which are also Blue Ensigns with their respective state badges. When flown with those state flags and the national flag, it is sixth in the order of precedence. This is indicative of its position on the Commonwealth Coat of Arms. (en)

Nawiązuje do legend aborygenów opowiadających, że przodkami plemienia Bibbulman były łabędzie czarne, które zmieniły się w ludzi. Pierwszą flagę ustanowiono 27 listopada 1875 roku. Состоит из синего кормового флага и жёлтого круга на полотнище, внутри которого расположен символ штата — чёрный лебедь. Принят в качестве замены колониального флага. В отличие от него, лебедь смотрит с сторону флагштока. Флаг Западной Австралии похож на флаги других штатов страны, поскольку они тоже представляют собой синий кормовой флаг с гербами. - A bandeira da Austrália Ocidental consiste de um pavilhão azul adicionado ao emblema do estado. Adotada em 1953 para substituir um design semelhante usado na época em que o estado ainda era uma colônia britânica, tem sido a bandeira da Austrália Ocidental desde 3 de novembro daquele ano. O desenho da bandeira atual implicava inverter a direção do cisne-negro de modo que ficasse voltado para a talha. Isso foi feito a fim de cumprir a convenção vexilológica. A bandeira da Austrália Ocidental é semelhante às bandeiras dos outros cinco estados da Austrália, que também são pavilhões azuis com seus respectivos emblemas de estado.
