Florence Emily Dugdale (12 January 1879 – 17 October 1937) was an English teacher and children's writer, who was the second wife of the novelist and poet Thomas Hardy. She was credited as the author of Hardy's posthumously published biography, The Early Life and Later Years of Thomas Hardy, although it was written (mostly or entirely) by Hardy himself in his old age.

Florence Dugdale was de tweede van vier dochters van Edward Dugdale, hoofd van de lagere school St Andrew's National School for Boys. Zelf bezocht zij de (bijna) gelijknamige meisjesschool. Na haar opleiding besloot ze zelf ook het onderwijzersvak in te gaan. Zij deed een deel van de opleiding op haar eigen lagere school en begon als onderwijzeres op de school van haar vader in 1897.
