Forrest is a former small railway settlement and stopping place on the Nullarbor Plain, 88 kilometres (55 miles) west of the Western Australia / South Australia state border. It was established in 1916 during construction of the Trans-Australian Railway. The 2016 census recorded no residents. In the 2021 census, the area had "no people or a very low population". Forrest is on the part of the Trans-Australian Railway that is the longest – at 478.193 kilometres (297.135 miles) – stretch of straight railway line in the world.
