| - Der Verband der Journalisten der DDR (VDJ) war eine Organisation für Journalisten, die zunächst unter dem Dach des FDGB der Gewerkschaft Kunst und Schrifttum (und freie Berufe) als berufliche Interessenvertretung und nach Loslösung vom FDGB in den frühen 1950er Jahren ausschließlich als Berufsorganisation der Journalisten in der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik fungierte. Mit der Loslösung des Verbandes von der Gewerkschaft entwickelte er sich zunehmend zu einem Erziehungs- und Lenkungsorgan der DDR-Staatsführung. Der Verband, in dem etwa 90 % aller DDR-Journalisten organisiert war, hatte circa 8.500 Mitglieder. Etwa 85 % von ihnen waren Mitglieder der SED. Er gehörte der Nationalen Front der DDR an und war Mitglied der (IOJ) und der Liga für die Vereinten Nationen in der DDR.Langjähriger Vorsitzender des Verbandes war Harri Czepuck, auch stellvertretender Vorsitzender der IOJ. Sein Nachfolger wurde 1981 Eberhard Heinrich. Er wurde Ende Januar 1990 von dem Rundfunkjournalisten Gerd Kurze abgelöst, der den Verband bis zur Auflösung im September 1990 leitete. (de)
- The GDR Union of Journalists (German: Verband der Journalisten der DDR, abbreviated VDJ) was a professional association of journalists in East Germany (the German Democratic Republic, GDR). VDJ organized news, press, radio and television journalists, as well as press officers, publishing staff, cartoonists, documentarists and teachers of journalism. VJD conducted trainings for journalists, on behalf of the Ministry for Higher and Professional Education. The offices of the VDJ were located at Friedrichstraße 101, Berlin, in the Admiralspalast. VDJ was founded as the German Press Union (Verband der Deutschen Presse, VDP). A VDP organization was founded in Berlin on October 10, 1945. It officially launched its activities on January 1, 1946. A de facto separate VDP was set up in the Soviet occupation zone. As of April 1946 the Berlin VDP had 327 members. The Berlin VDP was included in the Arts and Letters Trade Union ('Trade Union no. 17') of Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB) in July 1946. By December in the same year the membership had reached 958. In March 1947 the Berlin organization had 1,107 members (80% of the working journalists in the city). In 1949 VDP joined International Organization of Journalists (IOJ). The organization worked in all sectors of Berlin until 1950. In the same year the Trade Union No. 17 was dissolved and VDP became an affiliate of its own to FDGB. By this time the VDP in Berlin and the Soviet occupation zone were merged into a unified organization. On January 27, 1951 VDP opened an Institute for Journalists and Newspaper Patrons. On October 21, 1951 stepped down as first chairman of VDP. Karl Bittel became the first chairman of VDJ. VDP was affiliated to FDGB until 1953. In 1957 became the new chairman of VDP. Under his rein, more emphasis was given to the educational activities of the organization. The 4th Central Delegates' Conference of VDP, held on May 30, 1959 decided to change the name of the organization to Union of German Journalists (Verband der Deutschen Journalisten). As of 1968 Harri Czepuck was the chairman of VDJ. In 1972 the name GDR Union of Journalists was adopted. At the Werner Lamberz International Institute for Journalism in Berlin, VDJ provided training for foreign journalists. During 1963–1979 a total of 432 journalists from 39 countries in Africa and Asia were trained at the institute. In 1981, Eberhard Heinrich replaced Czepuck as chairman. By 1983 VDJ had partnership agreements with 48 journalists' associations worldwide (including with journalists' associations linked to national liberation movements). As of 1988, VDJ had some 9,000 members (roughly 90% of the journalists in East Germany). Due to the radical changes in East Germany during the Peaceful Revolution, VDJ held an extraordinary congress in January 1990. On June 23–24, the organization held another, ordinary, congress, on which it was decided that VDJ be dissolved. The dissolution came into effect on September 30 the same year, three days before the German Reunification. (en)

La VJD coordinava le scuole per giornalisti per conto del Ministero dell'educazione superiore e professionale. Gli uffici dell'organizzazione erano situati nella Friedrichstraße 101, Berlino Est, all'interno dell'Admiralspalast. La VDJ venne fondato come l'Unione della stampa tedesca (Verband der Deutschen Presse, VDP) a Berlino il 10 ottobre 1945 ed iniziò ad operare dal primo gennaio 1946. Una separata VDP venne creata all'interno della zona di occupazione sovietica. Nell'aprile del 1946 la VDP di Berlino contava 327 membri e venne inclusa nel Sindacato delle arti e delle lettere ('Sindacato n° 17') della Libera federazione dei sindacati tedeschi (FDGB) nel luglio 1946. A dicembre dello stesso anno i membri erano saliti a quota 958. Nel marzo del 1947 l'organizzazione di Berlino aveva 1 107 membri (l'80% dei giornalisti attivi nella città). Nel 1949 la VDP aderì all'Organizzazione internazionale dei giornalisti (IOJ) e lavorò in tutti i settori di Berlino fino al 1950. Nello stesso anno, il Sindacato n° 17 venne sciolto e la VDP divenne un'affiliata indipendente della FDGB. A suo tempo la VDP di Berlino e e della zona di occupazione sovietica vennero uniti in un'unica organizzazione. Il 27 gennaio 1951 la VDP aprì un Istituto per Giornalisti e Redattori. Il 21 ottobre 1951, Fritz Apelt si dimise da presidente della VDP e Karl Bittel divenne il primo a capo della VDJ. La VDP rimase affiliata alla FDGB fino al 1953. Nel 1957 Georg Krausz divenne il nuovo presidente della VDP e durante il suo mandato venne data più enfasi alle attività educative dell'organizzazione. La IV Conferenza centrale dei delegati della VDP, organizzata il 30 maggio 1959, decise di cambiare il nome dell'organizzazione in Unione dei giornalisti tedeschi (Verband der Deutschen Journalisten). Nel 1968 Harri Czepuck divenne il presidente della VDJ e nel 1972 venne adottato il nome Unione dei giornalisti della RDT. All'Istituto internazionale Werner Lamberz per il giornalismo di Berlino, la VDJ offrì dei corsi per i giornalisti stranieri e tra il 1963 e il 1979 venne istruito un totale di 432 giornalisti provenienti da 39 paesi in Africa e Asia. Nel 1981, Eberhard Heinrich sostituì Czepuck come presidente Nel 1983 la VDJ aveva trattati di partnership con 48 associazioni di giornalisti in tutto il mondo (incluse quelle legate a movimenti di liberazione nazionale).
