The following are the positions in the Gaelic sports of Gaelic football, hurling and camogie. Each team consists of one goalkeeper (who wears a different colour jersey), six backs, two midfielders, and six forwards: 15 players in all. Some under-age games are played 13-a-side (in which case the full-back and full-forward positions are removed) or 11-a-side (in which case the full-back, centre back, centre forward and full-forward positions are removed). The positions are listed below, with the jersey number usually worn by players in that position given.

Risulta inoltre difficile che durante una partita un giocatore cambi la propria posizione, salvo in casi rari. Pendant les matchs les joueurs se tiennent à leur position sauf en cas de changement imposé par l’entraîneur ou le capitaine de l’équipe. Chaque équipe est composée de 1 gardien de but, 6 arrières, 2 milieux de terrain et 6 avants, soit 15 joueurs au total. Dans certaines catégories de jeunes joueurs, les équipes sont composées de 11 ou 13 éléments. Voici la liste de ces positions. Sur les maillots, les positions sont toujours représentées par un numéro et celui-ci reste invariablement le même, comme cela se fait par exemple au rugby à XV.
