Galle Fort (Sinhala: ගාලු කොටුව Galu Kotuwa; Tamil: காலிக் கோட்டை, romanized: Kālik Kōṭṭai), in the Bay of Galle on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, was built first in 1588 by the Portuguese, then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century from 1649 onwards. It is a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage monument, which even after more than 432 years maintains a polished appearance, due to extensive reconstruction work done by Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka.

(en) O Forte de Galle , também chamado Forte de Santa Cruz ou Forte da Imaculada Conceição pelos portugueses e Bastião Negro pelos holandeses, localiza-se na baía de Galle, na costa sudoeste da ilha de Ceilão, atual Seri Lanca. Foi erigido pelos portugueses em 1588, tendo sido ulteriormente fortificado pelos holandeses pelo transcurso do século XVII, a partir de 1649. Congloba uma área de cerca de 5.512 quilómetros quadrados, que se encontra tripartida nos distritos de: Galle, Hambantota e Matara. Fort Galle was een versterkte handelsnederzetting van de Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie waar kooplieden en soldaten tijdelijk verbleven. Het fort met de vestingwerken maakt deel uit van het werelderfgoed. Binnen de muren groeide een koloniaal stadje, met een rechthoekig stratenpatroon, administratieve gebouwen, pakhuizen, kerkjes, woonhuizen, kazernegebouwen, een ziekenhuis en vanaf 1755 de Grote Kerk.
