| - Douglas Eugene "Gene" Savoy (May 11, 1927 – September 11, 2007) was an American explorer, author, religious leader, and theologian. He served as Head Bishop of the International Community of Christ, Church of the Second Advent from 1971 until his death. Rising to prominence as one of the premier explorers of Peru in the 1960s, he is best known for his claims to have discovered more than 40 lost cities in Peru and is credited with bringing to light a number of Peru’s most important archeological sites, including Vilcabamba, the last refuge of the Incas during the Spanish conquest, and Gran Pajaten, which he named but did not discover. - Douglas Eugene „Gene“ Savoy (* 11. Mai 1927 in Bellingham, Washington; † 11. September 2007 in Reno, Nevada) war ein US-amerikanischer Journalist, Abenteurer und Gründer einer Sekte. In den 1960er Jahren unternahm er zahlreiche Expeditionen in den peruanischen Dschungel der östlichen Anden und des Amazonas. Er fand unter anderem in den 1950er und 1960er Jahren vier bedeutende Stätten der Inkas sowie die Überreste des Volkes der Chachapoya, der „Wolkenmenschen“. Außerdem gelang es Savoy, mehr als 40 prähistorische Siedlungen im peruanischen Regenwald zu finden, darunter die Dschungelstadt Vilcabamba. - Gene Savoy, nacido Douglas Eugene Savoy, (Bellingham (Washington), 11 de mayo de 1927 - Reno (Nevada), 11 de septiembre de 2007) fue un explorador estadounidense, famoso por descubrir más de cuarenta ciudades de distintas culturas precolombinas, en especial en Perú. Aunque en un inicio su vocación religiosa le hizo incorporarse a la Universidad Jesuita de Portland, dos años más tarde, movido por su interés en las antiguas culturas y poblaciones, abandonó los estudios oficiales para interesarse en el folklore, la arqueología, la mitología, la religión y la etnografía de los pueblos americanos.
