| - Dobrý král Václav (anglicky Good King Wenceslas) je oblíbená anglická koleda zpívaná při příležitosti svátku sv. Štěpána (26. prosinec). Koleda byla poprvé vydaná v roce 1853, hudba vychází z jarní koledy Tempus adest floridum ze 13. století a autorem textu je , který přeložil báseň Václava Aloise Svobody. Koleda vypráví o dobrém panovníkovi Václavovi, vlastně českém knížeti svatém Václavovi, který pomáhá na svátek křesťanského prvomučedníka se svým pážetem chudému poddanému, a když přírodní podmínky zimy a noci pomoc ztěžují, koná i zázraky. Pendant le voyage, son page est sur le point d'abandonner la lutte contre le froid mais peut néanmoins continuer son chemin en mettant ses pas dans ceux qu'a laissés le roi dans la neige. - Good King Wenceslas is een Engels kerstlied over Wenceslaus de Heilige (928–935). De tekst van het lied is in 1853 geschreven door John Mason Neale en handelt over Wenceslaus die op de feestdag van Stefanus (op 26 december, tweede kerstdag) een man hout ziet sprokkelen en hem een aalmoes wil geven. Zijn page wil opgeven en heeft het moeilijk met de kou, maar volgt Wenceslaus iedere stap. Het lied verscheen voor het eerst in Carols for Christmas-Tide. Voor de melodie werd het 13e-eeuwse Tempus adest floridum gebruikt. (nl)

Es handelt vom heiligen König Wenzel von Böhmen (908–928 oder 935) und dessen Mitleid mit einem armen, Brennholz sammelnden Bauern am Gedenktag des heiligen Stephan. Sein Text stammt von J. M. Neale. Ihm liegt ein Gedicht des tschechischen Dichters Václav Alois Svoboda von 1847 zugrunde. Die Melodie fand der mit Neale zusammenarbeitende Komponist Thomas Helmore in der Sammlung Piae cantiones von 1582, wo sie nicht mit einem Weihnachtslied, sondern mit dem Frühlingslied Tempus Adest Floridum verbunden war. - "Good King Wenceslas" is a Christmas carol that tells a story of a Bohemian king who goes on a journey, braving harsh winter weather, to give alms to a poor peasant on the Feast of Stephen (December 26, the Second Day of Christmas). During the journey, his page is about to give up the struggle against the cold weather, but is enabled to continue by following the king's footprints, step for step, through the deep snow. The legend is based on the life of the historical Saint Wenceslaus I, Duke of Bohemia (907–935). (en)
