Grassholm is an island 1 mile (1.6 km) south of Frida Hole, along the south coast and near the west end of South Georgia in the South Atlantic ocean. The name "Em Island" was given for this feature, probably by Discovery Investigations personnel who surveyed this coast in 1926. The South Georgia Survey (1951–52) reported that this feature is known to whalers and sealers as "Grassholmen," and that Em Island is unknown locally. The indefinite form of the name has been approved (without the suffix -en, which denotes the definite article in North Germanic languages).

| - Grassholmen (norwegisch für Grasinsel) ist eine etwa 400 m lange und mit Tussock bewachsene Insel vor der Südküste des westlichen Ausläufers Südgeorgiens. Sie liegt 1,5 km südlich der Bucht Frida Hole. Wissenschaftler der britischen Discovery Investigations benannten sie im Zuge von 1926 durchgeführten Vermessungen als Em Island. Der South Georgia Survey berichtete nach eigenen in den Jahren von 1951 bis 1952 vorgenommenen Vermessungen davon, dass die Insel den Wal- und Robbenjägern unter anderem und seitdem etablierten Namen bekannt ist.
