- Das Guitarrón (span.: große Gitarre) ist ein mexikanisches Bassinstrument aus der Familie der Gitarren. Es hat üblicherweise sechs Saiten (A-D-G-C-E-A, die tiefe A-Saite klingt eine Oktave tiefer als die A-Saite einer normalen Gitarre), es gibt aber auch vier- und fünfsaitige Versionen. Auffällig ist der sehr große Resonanzkörper, welcher auf der Rückseite bauchig gewölbt ist. Das Guitarrón hat in der Regel keine Bünde. Gespielt wird es zumeist im Stehen und vor allem in den mexikanischen Mariachi-Bands. Es ist auch in anderen Ländern Lateinamerikas verbreitet. (de)
- El guitarrón mexicano es un instrumento musical de cuerdas inventado en México en el siglo XIX para tocar la sección de las notas más bajas en el mariachi. Recuerda por su forma y cordaje a la guitarra pero es más grande, ancho y con el mango proporcionalmente corto. Usa seis cuerdas, las cuales son de distinta afinación que las de la guitarra, y se toca usando dos de ellas a la vez para dar más fuerza y volumen al sonido.
