La capitale administrative du district est , située à une altitude de 1 434 m dans la partie montagneuse du district. La popolazione nell'ottobre 2004 era stimata in 53.780 abitanti, prevalentemente Pashtun (80%) con minoranza tagika. Il villaggio principale, Gulistan, si trova a 1434 m s.l.m. nel settore montuoso del distretto. La strada principale che attraversa il distretto è la 522. W przybliżeniu w 2004 roku mieszkało tam 53780 osób. Główne miasto nosi tę samą nazwę – Golestan (Gulistan), położone jest na wysokości 1434 m w górskiej części powiatu. We wrześniu 2005 Talibowie opanowali tereny powiatu. (pl)
