She was refloated on 20 October 1838 and towed into Three Rivers in Lower Canada. On 26–27 August 1843, Malabar, under the command of Sir George Sartorius, assisted in fighting a fire that destroyed the United States Navy sidewheel frigate USS Missouri at Gibraltar and took aboard about 200 of Missouri′s survivors. Malabar was hulked in October 1848, eventually becoming a coal hulk, and was renamed Myrtle in October 1883. The hulk was sold out of the navy in July 1905. (en)
