Hidehiko Yamabe (山辺英彦, Yamabe Hidehiko, August 22, 1923 in Ashiya, Hyōgo, Japan – November 20, 1960 in Evanston, Illinois) was a Japanese mathematician. Above all, he is famous for discovering that every conformal class on a smooth compact manifold is represented by a Riemannian metric of constant scalar curvature. Other notable contributions include his definitive solution of Hilbert's fifth problem.

(en) 山辺英彦（やまべひでひこ、1923年8月22日 - 1960年11月20日）は、日本の数学者。兵庫県芦屋市出身。山辺武彦、レイの五男として生まれる。神戸一中、第三高等学校をへて、1944年東京帝国大学入学、1947年に東京大学卒業。その後大阪大学に行く。1949年大阪大学助手、1951年講師。1952年から2年間プリンストン高等研究所研究員。1954年、大阪大学から理学博士号を取得。1954年ミネソタ大学助教授を経て、1957年准教授。1958年大阪大学教授。1959年再びミネソタ大学。1960年ノースウェスタン大学教授。同年11月くも膜下出血で死去。山辺は、位相群、リー群の構造を研究しヒルベルトの第5問題の解決に貢献したことで知られる。その後、偏微分方程式、力学系、微分幾何学の研究に移る。微分幾何学ではにおける変分問題である「山辺の問題」が有名である。また山辺不変量、山辺フロー、山辺定数などに名を残す。 (ja) 山邊英彥（1923年8月22日－1960年11月20日），日本數學家，生於日本兵庫縣蘆屋市。他最有名的結果是解決希爾伯特第五問題。山邊英彥1947年畢業於東京大學，到大阪大學任助理，1952年至1954年任普林斯頓大學助理，其間獲得大阪大學獲予博士。1954年，離開普林斯頓大學，到明尼蘇達大學任助理教授。他有一年往大阪大學擔任教授，其餘時間一直留在明尼蘇達大學，直到1960年。那年年底他突然中風去世，在此前幾月才受西北大學聘為教授。 (zh)
