Hill of Down (Irish: Cnoc an Dúin) is a townland in County Meath located on the Royal Canal. There was also a railway station on the line between Dublin and Galway/Sligo. There is a shop and post office at Hill of Down. The shop also has a pub and all of these are located next to the bridge over the canal (Trim to Kinnegad Road). St. Columba, St. Brigid of Kildare and St. Patrick are, according to legend, supposed to be buried within the hill, though this is probably a confusion with the Hill of Down near Downpatrick in the province of Ulster.

  • Is baile fearainn é Cnoc an Dúin i gContae na Mí atá suite ar an gCanáil Ríoga. Bhí stáisiún traenach ann freisin, ar an líne idir Baile Átha Cliath agus Gaillimh/Sligeach. Tá Oifig an Phoist agus siopa ag Cnoc an Dúin. Tá teach tábhairne ag an siopa freisin. Tá gach ceann de na háiseanna seo suite in aice leis an droichead thar an gcanáil (Baile Átha Troim go Bóthar Cionn Átha Gad). Tá Naomh Columba, Naomh Bríd Chill Dara agus Naomh Pádraig ceaptha a bheith curtha san cnoc de réir finscéal. Is dócha go bhfuil mearbhall le Cnoc an Dúin in aice Dhún Pádraig i gCúige Uladh. (ga)
