The Honda CLR CityFly was introduced in 1998 as a dual purpose motorcycle and is powered by a 49–124 cc (3.0–7.6 cu in) SOHC single-cylinder engine. The machine does not have the same engine as the Honda CG but the engine from the Honda XLR offroad motorcycle. The CLR "CityFly" was discontinued in 2003. Although the motorcycle was launched as a dual purpose machine, it was better known for city use and town use; this was mainly due to the lack of power of the engine. The Honda CLR received mostly favorable reviews upon release.

Der Basismotor, der in diversen Formen seit den 1970er Jahren von Honda verbaut wird, erhielt einen Elektrostarter und gilt als zwar technisch überholt (die für Leichtkrafträder zulässigen 11 kW Leistung werden weit unterschritten), aber dafür als ausgereift und langlebig. Associée à sa légèreté et sa maniabilité aisée, elle est un atout efficace en agglomération. Le réservoir de 12 litres autorise une autonomie moyenne de 400 km, fort appréciable pour une utilisation quotidienne (consommation entre 2.5 et 3.4 l/100km). (fr)
