- La inmigración en Costa Rica es un fenómeno de destacada importancia histórica para la nación, pues se desarrolla continuamente desde antes de la colonización española, cuando el territorio del país era un puente social y geográfico para las culturas amerindias del norte y sur de América. Después, durante la época colonial recibe abundante inmigración europea y africana, debido a la necesidad de poblamiento y mano de obra para el desarrollo de infraestructura. Luego de la independencia, a lo largo de los siglo XIX y el siglo XX el país acoge importantes flujos y olas de inmigrantes de España, Italia, Francia, Polonia, Alemania, China, Norteamérica, el Caribe y el Cercano Oriente, que aumentan considerablemente la población e inyectan una gran influencia cultural, económica y social.
