Inga Clendinnen, AO, FAHA (née Jewell; 17 August 1934 – 8 September 2016) was an Australian author, historian, anthropologist, and academic. Her work focused on social history, and the history of cultural encounters. She was an authority on Aztec civilisation and pre-Columbian ritual human sacrifice. She also wrote about the Holocaust, and on first contacts between Indigenous Australians and white explorers. At her death, she was an Emeritus Scholar at La Trobe University, Melbourne.

  • Inga Clendinnen, geborene Jewell (* 17. August 1934 in Geelong; † 8. September 2016 in Melbourne), war eine australische Historikerin, Anthropologin, Intellektuelle und Autorin. Clendinnen war die Tochter eines Möbeltischlers, der später im Stadtrat ihres Heimatorts war. Prägend für ihre Kindheit waren die Jahre der Depression und die Erlebnisse des Zweiten Weltkriegs. Sie studierte an der University of Melbourne mit dem Bachelor-Abschluss 1955 und war danach Senior Tutor an der Universität Melbourne (1956 bis 1965 und nochmals 1968). 1969 wurde sie Senior Lecturer an der zwei Jahre zuvor gegründeten La Trobe University, was sie bis 1989 blieb. 1975 erwarb sie noch einen Master-Abschluss.
