The International Service for Human Rights (ISHR) is an independent, non-profit organization with offices in Geneva and New York which promotes and protects human rights by supporting human rights defenders, strengthening human rights standards and systems, and leading and participating in coalitions for human rights change.

Established in 1984, ISHR's role is to support human rights defenders by building their capacity and expertise, strengthening their recognition and protection under international law, and protecting them from threats, risks and reprisals. ISHR provides human rights defenders with a range of tools and support, including access to high-quality research and analysis, tailored training and capacity building services, legal advice and strategic litigation, and advocacy and networking support. L'Unità Informativa ha compilato di recente una guida per la transizione dallo Commissione per i Diritti Umani dell'ONU allo Consiglio per i diritti umani delle Nazioni Unite intitolato A New Chapter for Human Rights. L'ETP istruisce i difensori dei diritti umani somministrando corsi ed organizzando workshop sia a Ginevra che nel resto del mondo insegnando come usare le leggi e le procedure internazionali e locali sui diritti umani per definire e realizzare le strategie più opportuni. L'ETP lavora principalmente con l'ONU, ma addestra anche altre organizzazioni intergovernative e regionali. ISHR è ossia uno dei autori di Principi di Yogyakarta. (it)
