James Craig (31 October 1739 – 23 June 1795) was a Scottish architect who worked mostly in lowlands of the country and especially his native city of Edinburgh. He is remembered primarily for his layout of the first Edinburgh New Town.

È ricordato principalmente per il suo ordinamento della New Town di Edimburgo. Il suo progetto, che vinse il concorso del 1766, fu ideato come un semplice e lineare sistema di tre strade principali disposte parallelamente (Princes Street, e ) con una piazza alla fine di ognuna (St Andrew's Square e Charlotte Square).
