Jan Roos (1591 in Antwerp – 1638 in Genoa), was a Flemish artist who, after training in Antwerp, mainly worked in Italy where he was called Giovanni Rosa. He was known for his still life paintings of flowers and vegetables, mythological and religious scenes and portraits. His style of still life painting had an important influence on the art of the local painters of the Genoese school.

La comunicación entre los dos pintores habría alcanzado a la colaboración de Roos en algún lienzo de Van Dyck, como se ha señalado, entre otros, en el Vertumno y Pomona del Palazzo Bianco, o en la Diana y una ninfa sorprendidas por un sátiro de la Kunsthaus de Zúrich y el Museo del Prado, en los que los motivos de naturaleza muerta corresponderían en opinión de una parte de la crítica al pincel de Roos.
