He is the author of over ninety books in French, some translated into other languages, including English, German, Spanish and Portuguese.The primary subject of his writings is Christian spirituality. He has translated and commented on the apocryphal gospels from the Nag Hammadi library according to Thomas, Philip and Mary (Mary Magdalene), as well as the Gospel according to John and the Apocalypse.He also explores the meditative and monastic traditions of the Orthodox Church (Hesychasm) and the teachings of the Fathers of the Church, especially the Desert Fathers, in particular Evagrius Ponticus. He investigates the role of the Feminine in the history of Christianity and considers the dialogue with other spiritual traditions. (en)

Prêtre français, dominicain puis orthodoxe, il est l'auteur de plus de quatre-vingt-dix ouvrages traitant essentiellement de spiritualité chrétienne. Il a traduit et commenté de manière innovante les évangiles canoniques et apocryphes, notamment de la bibliothèque de Nag Hammadi, selon Thomas, Philippe et Marie (Marie-Madeleine), ainsi que l'Évangile selon Jean et l'Apocalypse. Il rappelle les traditions primitives, méditatives et monastiques de l'Église orthodoxe (Mont Athos, Hésychasme) et l'enseignement des Pères de l'Église, notamment des Pères du désert, et en particulier d'Évagre le Pontique. Il s'intéresse à la compassion des thérapeutes décrits par Philon d'Alexandrie, à la part du féminin dans l'histoire du christianisme, et bien qu'enraciné en Occident, à l'ouverture vers les autres traditions spirituelles. Il insiste sur la dimension pleinement humaine et pleinement divine de Jésus, ainsi que sur la dimension à la fois humaine et divine de l’homme.
