Jean Daetwyler (24 January 1907, Basel – 4 June 1994, Sierre) was a Swiss composer and musician. He is barely remembered, mostly for his largely forgotten works for alphorn inspired by beginning in 1970. Also inspired by trombonist and other aspects of Swiss culture. Daetwyler was a pupil of Vincent d'Indy at the Paris Conservatoire. He returned to Switzerland in 1933 to teach for over four decades. His work was also part of the music event in the art competition at the 1948 Summer Olympics.

Вырос в Бюле, с семилетнего возраста учился игре на скрипке у руководителя городского оркестра Рафаэля Радро, затем также учился играть на тромбоне. С 1927 г. совершенствовался как музыкант в Париже, в том числе под руководством Венсана д’Энди и Шарля Кёклена. В 1938 г. вернулся в Швейцарию и обосновался в Сидерсе, где возглавил муниципальный духовой оркестр, руководил также хором. В 1940—1945 гг. сочинял музыку для трансляций Радио Лозанны. В 1947 г. стоял у истоков консерватории в Сьоне и до 1972 г. преподавал гармонию и контрапункт. (ru)
