  • Jordan-River-Utah-Tempel (englisch: Jordan River Utah Temple, früher Jordan River Temple) ist ein Tempel der Kirche Jesu Christi der Heiligen der Letzten Tage in South Jordan, im Süden von Salt Lake City. Er wurde 1981 eingeweiht. Der Jordan-River-Tempel entstand nach Plänen von , dem damaligen Hausarchitekten der LDS. Der Bau wurde am 3. Februar 1978 angekündigt, die Weihung des Baugrunds und der erste Spatenstich geschahen am 9. Juni 1979 unter Spencer W. Kimball. 1981 wurde der Tempel fertiggestellt, vom 29. September bis zum 31. Oktober waren die Tage der offenen Tür. Vom 16. bis zum 20. November wurde der Tempel durch geweiht. Der Jordan-River-Tempel hat eine Raumfläche von etwa 13.800 Quadratmetern. Darin sind sechs Verordnungsräume und siebzehn Siegelungsräume enthalten. Er gehört zu den LDS-Tempeln mit der höchsten Kapazität. Der aus einem Material mit Fiberglas bestehende Turm erstreckt sich auf 66,75 Meter Höhe und trägt auf seiner Spitze eine Statue von Moroni mit Posaune und den Goldplatten, aus denen Joseph Smith das Buch Mormon geschrieben habe. Located in South Jordan, Utah, it was built with a modern single-spire design. A site dedication and groundbreaking ceremony were held on June 9, 1979. The ceremony and dedication were presided over by church president Spencer W. Kimball. Instead of the usual small ceremonial shovel-full of dirt at the groundbreaking, Kimball used a large power scoop shovel to begin the building process. The temple was open to the public for tours September 29 through October 31, 1981. Over half a million people toured the temple during its open house. On August 7, 2015, the church announced that beginning February 15, 2016, the temple would close for renovations that were anticipated to be completed during the latter part of 2017. A public open house was held from March 17 through April 28, 2018, excluding Sundays and two Saturdays associated with the church's general conference. The temple was rededicated by Henry B. Eyring on May 20, 2018. (en)
