- Joseph Parry (21. května 1841, Merthyr Tydfil – 17. února 1903, Penarth) byl velšský hudební skladatel. V roce 1854, když mu bylo třináct let, se s rodinou odstěhoval do Spojených států amerických. Později, když odjel do Anglie, začal studovat hudbu na Univerzitě v Cambridgi, kde byl jeho profesorem hudební skladatel William Sterndale Bennett. - Joseph Parry (21 May 1841 – 17 February 1903) was a Welsh composer and musician. Born in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, he is best known as the composer of "Myfanwy" and the hymn tune "Aberystwyth", on which the African song "Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika" is said to be based. Parry was also the first Welshman to compose an opera; his composition, Blodwen, was the first opera in the Welsh language. (en)

Residente de Penarth en sus últimos años, Parry murió allí y se encuentra enterrado en el cementerio de St. Augustine, Penarth. Fue el protagonista de una dramatización de la BBC en 1978 titulada Off to Philadelphia in the Morning basada en el libro de , otro de los famosos hijos de Merthyr Tydfil. (es)
