Other than the Nuristanis, there is also other ethnic communities living in Kamdesh such as the Gujars. On October 3, 2009, during the War in Afghanistan, the Battle of Kamdesh took place 20 miles (32 km) away from the village, when a force of 300 Taliban assaulted the American Combat Outpost Keating. The attack resulted in 8 Americans killed and 27 wounded. * v * t * e (en)
