Bekannt wurde sie als Übersetzerin von Pierre Corneilles La Mort de Pompée und Horace sowie für ihre posthum erschienen Gedichtausgaben. Od wczesnych lat zdradzała nieprzeciętny talent do języków obcych i zainteresowanie literaturą. W 1647 roku poślubiła walijskiego parlamentarzystę Jamesa Philipsa. Utwory Katherine Philips przyciągnęły uwagę Henry'ego Vaughana. Philips używała pseudonimu The Matchless Orinda (Niezrównana Orindda). Nazywano ją też Angielską Safoną (the English Sappho). Największą zasługą poetki było przełożenie na język angielski tragedii Pierre'a Corneille'a Śmierć Pompejusza i Horacjusze. (pl)
- Katherine Fowler Philips (Londres, 1 de enero de 1632- Londres, 22 de junio de 1664), llamada la «incomparable Orinda» («the matchless Orinda») fue una poetisa y traductora anglogalesa, conocida principalmente por sus poemas de amistad apasionada entre mujeres. Su tratamiento del amor y de la intimidad entre mujeres eleva y destaca a Orinda como un modelo literario en la tradición literaria inglesa y universal. Para valorar justamente su coherencia temática y su valor como escritora, téngase en cuenta que cultivó este tema en la segunda mitad del puritano siglo XVII. Algunos de sus versos fueron adaptados a la música, como "O Solitude" que fue musitado por Henry Purcell. La poesía completa de Katherine Philips ha sido traducida al español por los profesores de la Universidad de Córdoba Áng (es)

- Katherine Philips (Londen, 1 januari 1632 – 22 juni 1664), was een Engels dichteres. Zij werd geboren als Katherine Fowler, dochter van de Londense koopman John Fowler. Zij liet na verloop van tijd haar presbyteriaanse en puriteinse opvoeding achter zich en werd een aanhanger van de royalisten. Op 16-jarige leeftijd trouwde zij met de Welshe parlementariër James Philips uit Cardigan, die toen 44 jaar oud was. Kort na haar terugkeer in Engeland in 1664 overleed zij aan pokken. (nl)
