L'Escargot and Golden Miller are the only two horses to have won both the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the Grand National. Among other major races won by L'Escargot were the Gloucestershire Hurdle (now the Supreme Novices Hurdle) at Cheltenham, the Scalp Hurdle at Leopardstown, the Meadow Brook Steeplechase at Belmont Park, New York, and the Wills Premier Chase at Haydock Park. L’Escargot was voted the 1969 American Champion Steeplechase Horse. He was inducted into the United States Racing Hall of Fame in 1977. (en)
