Lärm (German for noise) were a Dutch straight edge hardcore band formed in 1981, first playing under the name of Total Chaoz. They referred to their music as "extreme noise", though having nothing to do with noise rock or noise music. Due to members being straight edge, which was something uncommon in the crust punk scene, Lärm were different from many bands at the time. Members went on to form and the communist straight edge band Manliftingbanner, who played in a more conventional hardcore punk style.

- Lärm (Duits for herrie) is sinds 1981 een Nederlandse straight-edge-hardcoreband. In het eerste jaar speelden zij onder de naam Total Chaoz. Het was vrij ongebruikelijk in de crust punk dat de leden van deze band straight edge waren. Lärm week daarmee sterk af vergeleken met andere bands in die tijd. Nadien startten leden van deze band en de communistische straightedgeband Manliftingbanner en speelden een conventionelere hardcorepunkstijl. (nl)

- I Lärm (tedesco per rumore) sono stati un gruppo musicale hardcore/thrashcore olandese, formatosi nel 1981, inizialmente con il nome «Total Chaoz».Il gruppo è stato fondamentale per lo sviluppo del power violence, insieme a band come gli Heresy e i , ed è talvolta annoverato tra i pionieri del grindcore. Tuttavia il gruppo si definiva di genere extreme noise, pur non avendo nulla a che fare con il noise rock o il noise. Dal 2003 i Lärm suonano un concerto all'anno. I Seein' Red hanno registrato nuovamente alcune tracce della band con il nome Lärm As Fuck. (it)
