Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Incorporated is a historically Latina-based national sorority with multicultural membership founded on April 9, 1990, at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa by five collegiate women who wanted an organization to empower all women. The sorority focuses on five principles: academics, community service, cultural awareness, social interaction, and morals and ethics. With a network of 10,000 members, they have a diverse membership representing over 110 nationalities.
