The tallest building in Liverpool is currently the 40-storey West Tower, which rises 134 metres (440 ft) on Liverpool's waterfront. It is also the tallest habitable building in the United Kingdom outside of London and Manchester. Liverpool is a city undergoing mass regeneration, with older buildings being demolished to make way for new developments. During the mid-2000s, ten 1960s apartment blocks over 50 metres (164 ft) tall in the city were demolished.
