Luís Antônio de Carvalho Ferraz (21 February 1940 – 11 August 1982) was a Brazilian Navy officer, engineer, hydrographer, oceanographer, and Brazilian pioneer in Antarctica. Ferraz, a Brazilian Navy commander, made two expeditions to the Antarctic continent aboard British vessels. His first expedition took place in 1975, as a crew member of the RRS Bransfield and HMS Endurance. Ferraz was instrumental in persuading the Brazilian government in creating the Brazilian Antarctic Program.

A primeira foi em 1975, como tripulante das embarcações Bransfiels e Endurance, depois de ter ido ao pólo norte. Ferraz desempenhou importante papel ao persuadir o Brasil a desenvolver um programa antártico, participando da subcomissão encarregada de elaborar o PROANTAR (Programa Antártico Brasileiro), sob responsabilidade da Secretaria da Comissão Interministerial para os Recursos do Mar (SECIRM). Em homenagem póstuma ao seu legado a base brasileira na Antártica foi batizada com seu nome: Estação Antártica Comandante Ferraz (EACF). Ferraz morreu subitamente, aos 42 anos, enquanto participava da V Assembleia Oceanográfica Conjunta e da Reunião Geral do Comitê Científico para Pesquisas Oceanográficas, em Halifax, no Canadá, quatro meses antes da partida da primeira expedição brasileira à Antártica.
