Luis Fernando Ramírez Acuña is a Colombian public accountant, former Defense and labor minister and Vice Presidential candidate.[1] Ramírez led the Ministry of Defense during President Andrés Pastrana's government and had to deal with the peace process (1999-2002) between the government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). In May 2001 Ramirez quit his job as defense minister.As Minister of Labor he was the leader of the Social Security Reform that introduced in Colombia the capitalizacion system run by private pension Funds.Mr. Ramirez also served as Vice Minister of Finance and was also director of the Internal Revenue System.

En 1992, es nombrado por el presidente César Gaviria, como Ministro de Trabajo y Seguridad Social,​ cargo al que renuncia el 24 de marzo de 1994 para ser candidato a la vicepresidencia de la República como fórmula de Andrés Pastrana Arango. En 1998 Andrés Pastrana lo nombró Ministro de Defensa. En el año 2014 hace parte de la Junta directiva de Ecopetrol, a la cual renuncia el 30 de marzo de 2016. (es)
