Manolis Chiotis (Greek: Μανώλης Χιώτης; March 21, 1921 – March 20, 1970) was a Greek rebetiko and laiko composer, singer, and bouzouki player. He is considered one of the greatest bouzouki soloists of all time. He popularised the four-course bouzouki (tetrachordo) and introduced the guitar-like tuning, who found it better suited to the kind of virtuoso playing he was famous for. Chiotis’ answer was rather unexpected; “Mrs. Callas, please explain to Princess Grace that the strings of an electric guitar vibrate due to electricity, while the strings of a bouzouki vibrate through the heart.”

Chiotis begann zunächst in seiner Jugend die klassische Gitarre zu erlernen. Mitte der 1930er Jahre wurde er nach Athen zu einem Violin-Studium geschickt. Kurze Zeit nach seiner Ankunft in Athen begann er sich für die Bouzouki zu interessieren.Er wird als einer der wichtigsten Vertreter des Rembetiko angesehen. Er war zu seinen Lebzeiten der populärste Bouzoukispieler und wirkte als Solist bei mehr als 600 Aufnahmen mit, von Markos Vamvakaris bis zu Mikis Theodorakis. Sein erstes eigenes Lied nahm er im Jahr 1936 im Alter von 16 Jahren auf. Es folgten bis 1970 ungefähr 250 Stücke. Dazu wirkte er in mehreren griechischen Filmen mit. De 1948 à 1967, il apparait dans une vingtaine de films grecs lors de scènes se déroulant aux bouzoukia, cafés musicaux grecs traditionnels.
