Erst in mittleren Alter begann sie mit der systematischen Sammlung und dem Studium von Pflanzen.Ihr botanisches Autorenkürzel lautet „Gugelb.“. Gugelberg von Moos war die erste Frau, die für ihre Beiträge zur Botanik als korrespondierendes Mitglied in die Naturforschende Gesellschaft Graubündens aufgenommen wurde.
