Maryland gubernatorial elections have been held since statehood in 1867 to directly elect the Governor of Maryland and the officers that work with the winner candidate. After the initial election was held in November 5 1867, when Oden Bowie became the first Governor of Maryland, each subsequent election was held every four years in November.
