Matavera (traditionally known as Rangiatea) is the smallest of the five districts that make up the island of Rarotonga in the Cook Islands. It is located in the northeast of the island, to the east of the district of Avarua, and north of the district of Ngatangiia. Matavera is subdivided into 5 tapere (out of 54 for Rarotonga), listed from west to east: 1.

Situado al noroeste de la isla, formaba parte junto con los distritos de y , de la tribu de . Actualmente, el distrito corresponde a la circunscripción electoral del mismo nombre. De acuerdo con el Tribunal local, ahora está constituido por cinco que son Titama, Matavera, Nukumea, Pouara, Vaenga y Tupapa, este último ubicado en el distrito de Avarua.

Ésta es cronológicamente la quinta villa fundada por los misioneros de la Sociedad Misionera de Londres en 1849, a unos dos kilómetros al norte de la Ngatangiia. Su fundación responde a las preocupaciones políticas, por estar relacionados con los deseos de independencia de cuatro mataiapo del valle a cargo de la dirección de , uno de los dos grandes líderes de .

Situé au Nord-est de l'île, il fait partie avec les districts de Ngatangiia et Titikaveka, de la tribu de Takitumu. De nos jours, le district correspond à la circonscription électorale du même nom. Selon le Tribunal foncier, il est aujourd'hui constitué 5 tapere que sont Titama, Matavera, Nukumea, Pouara, Vaenga et Tupapa, ce dernier étant à cheval sur le district d'Avarua. Il s'agit chronologiquement du cinquième village fondé par les missionnaires de la London Missionary Society en 1849 à environ deux kilomètres au nord de celui de Ngatangiia. Sa fondation répond à des préoccupations politiques, étant liée aux désirs d'indépendance de quatre de la vallée par rapport à la chefferie des Pa Ariki, l'un des deux grands chefs de Takitumu.
