It was founded in 2007. In 2016, PayMaya reached a height of having processed $1 billion in transactions. In April 2022, PLDT and Smart Communications, the two companies controlling Voyager Innovations, PayMaya's parent company, announced that PayMaya's app would be overhauled and renamed Maya to coincide with the launch of Maya Bank. On May 2, 2022, PayMaya was renamed to Maya. The financial service is powered by the country's only end-to-end digital payments company PayMaya Philippines, Inc. and enhanced by Maya Bank for digital banking services. This means that the service's Filipino market would now experience both payments and digital banking through the all-in-one money platform. (en)
