In 1945, he graduated from the composition department of Tokyo Music School, into which he had matriculated in 1942. The same year he was drafted into the Imperial Japanese Navy. In 1955, he formed with Yoshinao Nakada, , , and . In 1957, he formed through the activities of the mixed chorus (1946-1955), which disbanded after thirty years in 1987. In 1968, he formed the female chorus, . In 1989, he received the Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon for individuals who have contributed to academic and artistic developments, improvements, and accomplishments. (en)
